Greenfinch

Lee has fixed the raspberry Pi cam - although the colours are weird it's high def so it's pretty good quality pics - see snapshot above and also video clip below of a Greenfinch. Notice how he (or she!) peels off the outer layer of the sunflower seed and then eats the middle.....let's just hope the camera carries on working :)

Roald Dahl

Well I went to Hobbycraft last week and picked up some new goodies.....a pack of metallic Molotow paint pens......I don't think I can ever own enough pens; a pack of calligraphy pens to experiment with lettering and all the Roald Dahl stuff (from Do Crafts) was half price, so I got a paper pack which is ace. Already I want them to release some more stuff with different characters on - Magic Finger, Twits, Georges Marvellous Medicine, Matilda, Witches - if anyone's listening hehe!!!

Anyway here are the cards I've made so far....mostly just with the addition of a little distress ink or paint/glitter pens.

Grace

Craft Barn challenge time - the words are peaceful or grace, not really my kind of words......have to be all serious hehe!! Anyway I settled on this poem by Emily Dickinson called The Wind and I've just put the last part of it on my page.

It was the reverse of the page from my previous challenge so I just decided to leave the ink blobs that had bled through as part of the background I quite like doing that with whatever splodges and blobs I've managed to leave from previous work.

I used blue pastels in the background and then I used salty ocean distress over a splodge away stencil for the tree. The I used a metallic molotow pen to draw the leaves like they are blowing off the tree in the wind. Then I just simply wrote on the words with a calligraphy pen.

Birds

Well I've not forgotten about the birds.......the bird box is currently playing home only to spiders! The feeder cam has gone a bit strange with the colours.....but I've put a couple of clips below, of them on the coconut feeder and one from this morning in the wind and rain. Lee is still working on the raspberry pi cam.....

Thing

Here's the latest Craft Barn challenge the choices were thing or family.

I decided to go with this poem A Song on King William the third - author unknown - although I just noticed that there seems to be a similar poem by Robert Burns also.

On my page there was still some residue of the pastels from the previous page but I then sprayed on some Dylusions. I added some fresco paint in white and then dripped on some distress reinker to make the blobs. I wrote on the poem with a green Posca pen and I stamped some Tim Holtz stamps in green archival.

Cards

Helloo....

Here are a couple of cards I made....

The first one is an Indigo Blu stamp coloured in with wink of stella pens and with a few swipes of tango and london bus fresco paints in the background and I stamped on the bird stamp. I used part of a tree stencil from Splodgeaway and a little distress around the edge.

The second on I got a piece of material and frayed the edges and added some alcohol inks and then gloss mod podged it down accentuating the brush lines which also ran into the ink, before it dried I stamped the map on some paper and then stuck it on top and added a bit more mod podge and little of the ink bled through on to the map. The greeting is a Craftwork cards one.

Happy Birthday Dad!

Happy Birthday Dad!!!

Here is this years birthday card....

A balloon stencil....I get all my stencils mixed up so can't remember who this one is made by......I used extra heavy gel medium mixed with fresco paint and also luminarte silk paints to get the greens and blues through the stencil. A little distress around the edge and a craftwork cards greeting.

Boom!

Hello........

Here is a canvas I decorated at the weekend....just required some erm structural integrity work before it was finished!!

It started off as an experiment about texture, with some ideas I'd seen and the new texture mediums I'd got.

Basically the background is a whole sea of paint, paint mixed with gel medium, paint mixed with pumice medium, a piece of string dyed with ink and glued and painted down, tar gel medium mixed with primary elements, more paint, some archival ink, some tiny beads and that's about it I think.

I then decided to add the word boom in the foreground, for some bizarre reason I decided to make it from paper.....in hindsight not the best idea but I didn't really think it would work out but in the end it did work. So I drew the letters and then sprayed dylusions and used a paint marker round the edge of each letter. I cut it out and mod podge it all. Then I used two springs and used silicon glue to attach it to the canvas, but because it was paper it was all floppy so I had to add in some additional stilts; and a little remedial work with some gel medium to sort of strengthen it a little. Then I decided that was about as good as I was going to get it and so there you go......BOOM!!

Cards and things

Hello.....

I've been busy in the craft room today.....here are some cards I've made, actually made these first two a week before....

JOfy stamps from Paper Artsy here on a background made from luminarte primary elements, reeves pearlescent medium and a couple of paints, fastened down with washi tape. A little tweet tweet stamp at the top and couple of craftwork cards flowers dyed a little pink, with a couple of pearls and a greeting.

This one is a distress ink background and then I used flitter glue and gilding flakes and some more Jofy stamps a little more distress ink and some clear wotsit (i forget the name) to make the bubbles. Oh and craftwork cards greeting.
I've also been working today on a secret squirrel project, here's a sneak peak......all will be revealed later in the year. Although I just received a set of golden mediums and I have been testing those out to great success :) Photos went a bit blurry but that all adds to the mystery hehehehehe!!!

Mind

Here is my entry into the latest quotes and lyrics challenge over at the craft barn

The words this time are mind or ignorance - I went with mind and an Edward Lear limerick

There was an old man of Three Bridges,
Whose mind was distracted by midges,
He sate on a wheel, eating underdone veal,
Which relieved that old man of Three Bridges.

I couldn't fit it all on the page so it's just the first part.

The pink background is pastels and the writing is a fine Sharpie with a little Wink of Stella for good measure. I decided to join the Splodgeaway club and those flowery leaf stencils came with the fist package, I just used distress ink with them. As always a little walnut stain mysteriously ended up around the edge hehe!!
