Knowledge

Here is the next craft barn Q&L challenge the words this time are knowledge or hurt. Well I spent absolutely ages searching for a poem I liked and I couldn't find anything that caught my eye. In the end I went for this Albert Einstein quote.

I used three paint dabbers mostly through the sponge dabber so that I left some of the pattern from the sponge . Once that had dried I mod podged down a picture of Einstein and then wrote on the quote with a black Sharpie. Then I drew on the border in a Zentangle inspired way. Finally I added a touch of dusty concord distress ink.

Here's what I spent this afternoon doing.....

Yes that's right, putting coloured spots on of all my inks and paints, whilst watching an "unofficial" documentary about Blink 182. I certainly like to live on the wild side. Truth is that I really enjoyed it hehehehe!!!

Chlorine

Finally got around to completing another element, so here is Chlorine, I've had this background ready for ages.....but finally finished it off. So long ago in fact that I don't really know what I did.....I guess it must be dylusions and a few stencils.......

Things and things

Helllooooooooooo

So here are a few things I've made recently.....

This one was a flower I stamped ages ago and I finally got around to turning it into a card, adding a touch of glitter and a greeting.

This one is mostly Tim Holtz papers, with some gilding wax, a few fibres with some gold mod podge and a gem
I made some Mars Bar crispy cakes for Easter, any excuse to put little pink chicks on things hehe!
This one is a stencil, I just used distress inks and a craftwork cards greeting

Bullfinch

Hello.....

A new visitor to the feeder today.....a Bullfinch.......thought I saw one on the fence but decided it must have been something else as the sun was too bright to see....then got this little snippet of it on the feeder. Apparently they don't normally visit feeders.

Truth

It's Craftbarn time again - the words this time are change or truth. I found this poem called The Deacon's masterpiece or the Wonderful One-Hoss Shay by Oliver Wendell Holmes - that features the line "In fact, there's nothing that keeps its youth So far as I know, but a tree and truth.

Here's my page.....I used fresco paints for the background; and then some grunge paste through some stencils and also some Dylusions through some stencils. The tree is a JOFY stamp from Paper Artsy, the tree is stamped in green archival and the leaves in distress; but they faded so I drew over with a fineliner. Then I wrote on the quote and stamped some more trees at the top and bottom.

Just messing about

Well I bought some canvases from Hobbycraft yesterday.....my mom says what you going to do with those? Erm not sure I say....just mess about.....so here is what I have created on the first one.....

So I started off by using some grunge paste (love this already it's thicker than other texture pastes I have so I think it might be using this a lot!) through some stencils, then I sprayed some dylusions and added some paper artsy fresco paints (mostly from the limited edition JOFY set I just got - ace colours) and then also added some definition over the texture paste with some peacock feathers distress ink. Oh I also tried out the technique from paper artsy of stamping into the grunge paste with my tiny little lavinia stars. Not sure if you can it from the picture but it's in the squares on the top right.

Next I used clear texture paste (creative expressions) over the spodge away owl in a tree mask; and then some more grunge paste through the moon stencil from the same splodge away set. Once dried I added some mustard seed distress ink to the moon and also some gold gilding wax. I also used black distress ink around the tree to highlight the owl.

I then mixed some more grunge paste with black paint and used the mountain mask from the same splodge away set to get the mountain in the bottom corner.

I then stamped on the bird (tim holtz) and the fairies (lavinia) and the trees (paper artsy jofy) and the ivy (lavinia). I used paper artsy fresco metallic glaze on the bird and fairy wings. I also stamped some stars with silver distress paint.

I added some stampendous fragments and some other glitter in the bottom corners. I highlighted a few areas with white gel pen. I added some distress ink around the edge. Then I finished it all off with silver gloss paint to highlight the edge, the mountain and a few others spots. I drew on the little birds on the moon. I think the moon is my favourite part.

Happy Mother's Day (for last week!)

Hello!!

I had a cross stitch I'd been working on here and there for ages.....I decided to set myself the target of finishing it for Mother's Day.....just about managed that give or take a week hehe!!

Here is the finished article...it is stitched on an Aida panel on a towel. The pattern in from a book called The Ultimate Cross Stitch Companion.

I was supposed to do some extra French knots but I managed two, and I think I've finally got my head around them though for future patterns....hehe!

Here are the cards I made as well one for my mom and one for Lee's mom.

This one is some Tim Holtz paper with the butterflies on which I stuck down some alphabet masks...tim holtz again! I then sprayed the paper with Dylusions in yellow/orange and then removed the masks. I cut it out with a spellbinders dye and used walnut stain around the edge. I got a couple of chipboard shapes and coloured them possibly with distress stain I can't actually remember! I then used some distress stickles on them as well. I used a grass stencil at the bottom with some paint and then I also added a flower which I inked a little and a couple of ready made bees.

This one I had some new sparkle mediums and a stencil so I used three colours on black glossy card and it worked pretty well and I managed not to get them too intermingled as it just did each colour at the same time as I'm too impatient to wait for them to dry. I then cut it into a circle and stuck it on a card and added some picked raspberry distress ink and a greeting.
