More from Bird Cam

Here are a couple more videos from Bird Cam....

There were three greenfinches at the same time just a for a short moment.....and the tiny coal tit has been back a few times as well.
Blimey that's if I could get the videos to upload......blogger was not friends with you tube today so hopefully these actually work!

Flamingo

Well there's me thinking all day about what word to choose for the next alpha challenge - even whilst staring at Flamingos whilst out and about at Slimbridge today it didn't click.....it was only when we were about half way home I suddenly went "Flamingo!" - no idea why I didn't think of it earlier!

So I was straight to the lap top to print off the pictures of flamingos I took earlier in the day; it couldn't have worked out better!

So firstly I painted the page with a paint dabber in Salmon and whilst that was drying I cut out the flamingo pictures I wanted to use.

Then I mod modged them down using matt mod podge this time, oh and on the two front flamingos I went around the edge with tattered rose distress stain to soften the sharp edges. Then I wrote on Flamingo in pink Sharpie, then I used a fine liner in pink to draw round the edge as well as using some dried marigold and spiced marmalade to stamp some leaves round the edge they didn't come out very defined but add some extra colour. Then I used a stencil and picked raspberry distress ink to make the honeycomb patten. I am wondering if I will ever make anything that doesn't involve distress ink of some kind....it's just too good!! All hail the Holtz!!!

Some more cards

Here are a couple more cards that I made....I should remember to post them nearer to when I make then because otherwise I forget what I did!

The first one I used some texture paste through a stencil  and I moved the stencil round creating a square left in the middle. After it had dried I sprayed with Dylusions and wiped off some of the excess so that the stars were more visible. I stamped on the dragon which is a Queen Kat designs stamp and I painted it using a couple of colours of perfect pearls. I tore out the page using a ruler and added some ink around the edge. I mounted it on the card and added some candy and a Craftwork cards greeting.

The second card again I used Dylusions red and yellow and then I used walnut stain distress stain to make the splats and I tore that part out using a ruler and some distress stain around the edge. I stamped the Happy Birthday which is a Papermania stamp and coloured it with Promarkers. Then in a backwards fashion I decided to add in the background colour by using pastels red/orange colours blended. I then tore out that section and edged that with distress stain and mounted that on some Coredinations card and then put that on the other piece and then put it all on the card. Finally I used black soot distress stain on the edge of the card.

Card

So here is a card I made for one of my niece's who was obviously 10!

I used a Tim Holtz die to get the houses on the edge of the card and then some star dies using Core'dinations card. The number 10 is stamped on from an Indigo Blu alphabet set and I hand wrote on the happy birthdays. I added a few sprays of yellow  Dylusions and a smudge of distress ink. To finish off a little bit of glitter on the smaller stars.

Kaleidoscope

And here is the next letter in the Craft Barn's alpha challenge......letter K.

Turns out there aren't really that many words beginning with K - Lee came up with this suggestion and it is Kaleidoscope. I interpreted it as "just go mad" so I did - I gessoed the background first leaving the definition free and then I stuck down various gems and I had some little mirror squares that I've had for ages and never used - perfect! Then I sprayed on some purple and pink Dylusions and a bit of perfect pearls, then I dabbed some glue on and added some glitter, stars and micro beads. Finally I used black soot distress stain around the edge.

Redpoll

Well in the warm weather these last few days there's not been too many birds about...although I have seen a Greenfinch a couple of times today. However, last week the feeders were really busy.....including quite a few returns trips for a Redpoll or several.....here are a couple of clips:
