Holy Dictionary Batman!

Well it's that time again......another letter in the alpha challenge.....it comes around fast. This week it is R, here is the link.

So what did I choose.....well inspiration struck....what with my current obsession with birds I picked Robin and then double whammy - of course I could bring in Batman and Robin as well!

So I started by painting the background gold with Paper Artsy Fresco - Old Gold and another gold acrylic...then I sprinkled on some Frantage embossing powder - aged copper I think it was and heated that to set.....then to get the picture of the Robin I used a still from Bird Cam (see previous posts) so this is a picture of a Robin that was in our own back garden......and then I printed off a picture of Burt Ward as Robin....as he doesn't hang about in our back garden!

I used Mod Podge gold shimmer to glue them both down to continue with the metallic theme. Then on a separate piece of paper I smeared some Wild Honey distress stain and Brushed Pewter distress stain and wrote on the descriptions. Inadvertently these ended up looking like the boxes in cartoons which was quite good.....oh and I edged them and the pages themselves with Walnut Stain....because it normally has to make an appearance somewhere!

Easter and a card

Helllooooooooooo!

Happy Easter!

I've made these quick and simple Easter nest cakes....just shredded wheat, chocolate, butter and mini eggs.....and of course the little pink chicks! What with Bird cam, Easter eggs live and Easter nests I'm bird crazy at the moment!

And this is a card I made......I started off with a bit of paper that I'd already sprayed green Dylusions on at another time; I filled in the white gaps by using distress Peacock Feathers with some cut n dry foam, then I stamped a dragon stamp in the background with salty ocean and peacock feathers; then I stamped the happy birthday with an alphabet set and used a craft nib to colour the letters in with a but more distress ink. Then I used a ruler to tear out a rectangle and went round the edge with walnut stain. Then I used some stamps on the card itself from the Stampers Anonymous Ultimate Grunge set, which is a great set for pretty much every background.

P P Pick up a Penguin!

It's letter P this time over at the Craft Barn's alpha challenge

I decided to choose Penguin. I think I must have been influenced after watching Spy in the huddle :)

I had a few goes at drawing penguins and they looked a little crazy so I opted for printing a picture of some penguins and mod podging it down......that's after I had gessoed the pages to my craft sheet and almost ripped all the pages out.....ooops! Once that had dried I went round the edge with Peacock Feathers and Salty Ocean distress ink.....I wrote on the word Penguin and then I added some micro beads and glitter....

Sodium

Well I've finally got around to finishing another element.....well I've had this mostly finished for ages but just got around to adding the writing. So erm I think the background was pastels and them some splodges of distress stain. The Sodium letters are coloured with perfect pearls using them like a paint.

Magnesium shouldn't be too much further behind you can actually see the ink of the letters coming through from the next page....d'oh oh well.....

Cards and things...

Here are some cards I've made including this year's Mother's Day cards....

This one was drawn Zentangle style cut out and layered on some card and a little bit of washi tape in the background
This one again the centre is Zentangle inspired with repeated daffodils and then the background is some texture paste through a flower stencil and then sprayed with Dylusions and then I stuck some flowers on the top
This is a stamp I got last week from Papermania......I just stamped and coloured it with Promarkers and added the greeting and a little distress around the edges oh and a little bit of glitter to finish
This was a background made using Dylusions and stencils and I then tore it out using a ruler for a straighter edge and then walnut stain around the edge and another set of new stamps these ones from Indigo Blu and then in the far background I stamped grass and flowers I think from a Paper Artsy set and then on the inside I stamped another flower from the same Paper Artsy set and coloured with Distress inks
I also had a go at making some chocolates for my mom and here are some of the results.....I just melted various chocolate bars and put them in silicon moulds and added a few bits and pieces like choc chips and fudge sauce and then once set I added a few decorations......silver shimmer, gold stars, metallic paint...all edible of course!

And I decorated this little basket to put them in......a layer of gesso followed by some Paper Artsy fresco paint in pink some washi tape around the handle, a little bit of ribbon and some pink tissue paper.....

Greetings Earthlings!

Hello....it's alpha challenge time again and the letter is M......only this time it had to be between MA and ME.....so that meant Monkey was out!! So actually Lee shouted out Martian and I thought yes why not.....so here are my Martian pages!

So here's how I did it - I gessoed the pages first and then drew on Mars with a marker pen......I coloured that with pastels and also the black background leaving the definition showing. Then I drew the Martian and coloured it with pastels and cut it out, and used a little walnut stain distress ink and a craft nib for a few highlights and shadows here and there......then wrote on Greetings Earthlings with a white gel pen.
